Posted - Aug 11 2009 : 10:04:59 PM I am also in Illinois and like the idea of a Great Lakes Chapter. My experience with another group that Kamps together 1 week a year is that the midwest states tend to travel in the region and we do not draw campers from farther away.

Posted - May 26 2009 : 9:30:27 PM Being from Illinois, we agree that it might make more sense to have a 'Great Lakes Chapter' and a 'New England Chapter' due to the distance.
And as noted earlier, I think everyone should be welcomed at another 'chapters' rallies, should they desire. It's nice to have the 'bounderies' to initiate gatherings, but for those who desire to travel out of their own chapter, they should feel welcome at other chapter gatherings. This would especially be nice for those who are on 'border' states. Though we are in Illinois, we tend to camp more in TN and have camped in NC and even FL.

Posted - May 26 2009 : 3:24:59 PM Good point Fred I just wanted to make sure we were not leaving any Area out.We also need to spred the word about the Forum. If I am camping I see another Rockwood,Flagstaff or Surv. I tell about the site.
its a good Ice breaker too. That will help get our ranks up if we all do that word of mouth can go a long way.

Posted - May 26 2009 : 03:46:04 AM I agree with Woody as being in Illinois, Maine is a long way off. However - if it was divided due to number of members in each area, then it makes sense to leave the chapters as is. Most of us on the borders of chapters can always join other chapters as guest members couldn't we? As it sits, we in Illinois would benefit from belonging to three chapters :) and join in activities that are closer to our area - three times more fun for us!

Posted - May 25 2009 : 4:17:43 PM We will see what kind of response we get. But it might be a idea we could have a Great Lakes Chapter and a New England Chapter. Its a long way from Maine to Mich. We could include the lake states WI., MI.,IL.,IN.,OH.,PA,& NY
And the New England states ME.,NH.,VT.,MA.,RI.,CT., & NJ.
We will see what everyone else thinks!

I think the break down of the Canadian provinces in my previous post should work well, I was hoping to get more input from the Canadian membership, but I'm thinking everyone has been out camping. Hopefully we will get some responses this week.
I would definitely be interested in looking after the Ontario chapter.

I would definitely be interested in helping out with the Ontario chapter, with us being on a seasonal site again this year I may not be the best choice for Chapter Captain. However Mrs.C and I would like to arrange a group meet this summer at Campers Cove in Wheatley. If anyone is interested drop me a note and maybe we can put something together.

Posted - May 09 2009 : 5:38:06 PM O.K. folks. The U.S. Chapter forums are up.
I'll need Captains for each Chapter. Each Captain will become a Moderator in his/her forum. Present Moderators will have first shot at becoming a Captain, so let me know if you're interested.

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 8:15:30 PM The split and the names look really good to me Norm. Another name for Alberta could be Mountain Chapter it is under the Mountain time zone and has a lot of tourisim in Banff,Jasper, Lake Louise and the Ice Field Parkway. Just my .02 worth.

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 7:44:12 PM OK. This is the map we'll use.
Canadian members, I'll let you all discuss the Chapter names, and area(Province) each Chapter will cover. We'll start with 5-6 Chapters each, US & Canada. We'll see how this goes for starters. If all works out, and we see a need for more Chapters, we'll then redivide the maps.

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 7:13:34 PM How about this for a start.
Maritime Chapter = New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I, Newfoundland/Labrador
Quebec Chapter
Ontario Chapter
Prarie Chapter = Manitoba, Saskatchewan
Wild Rose Chapter = Alberta
Pacific Chapter = B.C
we could change the chapter names, but how does the split look ?

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 06:13:49 AM What about a Chapter named "Maritime Provinces" or "Maritimes", including New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador. Here in Eastern Canada, we are used to that.

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 8:14:55 PM Looks good Mike, My thoughts would be to have BC and Alberta separate while keeping Saskatchewan and Manitoba together. The distance across the three prairie provinces together would make it tough for some campers to attend rallies while the populations of Alberta and BC could sustain there own events and even share some together. Populations are approx as follows BC 4 million, Alberta 3 million, Saskatchewan 1.2 million and Manitoba 1.1 million.

In my opinion I would like to see it stay all on one map, as far as divisions and chapters I will give it some thought and let you know my ideas. Hopefully some of the other Canadian members will have some input.
I was looking through the member directory and the Canadian members are sure spread out with the exception of a small group of us in southern Ontario.

Posted - Apr 27 2009 : 10:36:05 PM That's possible.
It may take a while, but as soon as the Chapters are finalized, I'll start a forum for each Chapter. This way, if someone is interested in what's taking place in a certain Chapter, they can inter that forum and join in on the discussion.

Yes, Norm. I would not think of leaving our good neighbors out. We can use the map above or add the map below.

Please give me input on how I should divide the map(Chapter names, etc..).
