Getting ready to order the 2010 Rockwood 8314BSS. Does anyone have one already and are there any concerns I should have?

I have a 2008 8314SS. Not sure what the "B" is for in 8314BSS. I've had very few issues with mine. Most items are minor and have taken care of myself. I added a tall door mirror behind the toilet and modded my TV cabinet for a larger TV. Some issues with my Concertone unit, but who hasn't. Also, took out the screws on all the access cabinet doors and added knobs and catches so all the doors match.

i have a 8314bss rockwood the only problem is the antenna for satalite radio isnt working,other than that everthing is working fine.

I have a Flagstaff 831BHSS but one option I highly recommend would be the electric tongue jack. It sure does come in handy.

We have an 8319 and strongly agree with the electric tongue jack option. We also opted for the bigger A/C unit and aluminum wheels. Ask about the second year warranty through Forest River if you are not buying an extended warranty through your dealership.

Also, don't know if others use them much, but I really enjoy having the outdoor speakers on my TT.

Personally, I'd opt for a manual awning instead of a power awning. We've found we have to retract our power awning in situations (like light rain or moderate wind) when we would have still been able to use a manual awning (judging from past experience.) Rather limits the usefulness of it, IMO.

| I have the 2010 8314BSS. Went on 2 week trip at a lake. It has been at dealer for repair for a month now. Back slide leak, water from leak shorted out a lamp, water flow very weak, but the big thing is that I was told it had two 30 gal gray water tanks. I was told this after I waited three days for the salesman to call the factory to make sure that it had two 30 gal gray water tanks.( this was before they posted capt. on their web site). Of course it only has one 30 gal. tank. They just called me and said there is no room for another tank anywhere under the trailer. by the way they told me they found several thinks wrong when they had the belly cover off the trailer. |

I have the power awning on my V-Lite. I do not have any concerns now leaving mine open during light rain and wind. This is because of 2 items being added.
1) A free manual tilt arm upgrade from Dometic was installed. This allows me to have a slight tilt or large. It does restrict the use of my living room door. You read about this in the forum.
2) I bought 'Happy Hooks Awning Tie Downs'. They really work well. I would buy camping nail stakes also since the screw stakes do not work on all places.

Oh! I forgot something. Dometic recommends that awnings over 22' need a center support. Mine is 29' and it started to sag. The dealership could not get Flagstaff to pay for an automatic center support ( can be seen on Camping World Web). But the dealership payed for the support and installation. I was prepared to pay for it but not the installation.

I ordered mine and if i had to do it over again, i'd leave out the skylight in the bathroom, which is just a leak waiting to happen. It continued to build up condensation in between the clear plexiglass piece inside and the roof plexiglass. Also, i'd leave out the vent that is in the ceiling in the main bedroom. This is just useless and another unnecessary hole in the roof. I bought one of those foam pieces and have it stuffed in it to block out the light coming thru it and have never opened it since i've had the camper.
Other then that, i dont think i'd change too much about it.
Alot of people dont like the electric awning, but i love mine. I do roll it up whenever i leave for any length of time cause you just never know when you might get a bad wind or rain storm and while it will drain eventually , it collects an awful amount of water which i dont care for. But , really, how hard or how much of a pain is it to just push a button to retract it before you go out and extend it when you come back. I would never go back to the manual type if i had a choice on any future trailers i'd own.

The power awnings on these trailers do not automatically retract. You have to be there to do it.

We camp alot in Myrtle Beach and it can get quite windy there. We never leave the awning extended during storms or over night. It only takes a few seconds to open or close the power awning. I guess it's a matter of personal preference but we like the convenience of the power awning. The manual awning will probably be more reliable in the long run.

Brush, looks like you stayed at the Travel Park in MB. We always stay there and will be there Labor day week, if no hurricanes pass through.

MBTP is our favourite place to camp. We hope to go back in a few weeks, Lord willing. We usually go in May and October so this will be our first August trip to MB.
