So…here in wonderful Northeast Ohio we are getting dumped on by the same storm that seams to be gripping the nation right now. So I’m sure that I’m in good company when I say, “I can’t wait until next summer!”
In the meanwhile, I’m trying to plan a trip for next summer. We are relatively new to camping, only having camped as kids, and not sure where to turn to get good information on camping destinations. Although I enjoy using the web, it is information overload! Do any of you know of a good website that people share their camping trips/vacations by destinations? I joined the Good Sam Club but either I’m not looking in the correct place or they are not a good source.
Last summer we hit the west coast of Michigan at Silver Lake and had a great time on the sand dunes. We stayed at a great RV Resort (http://www.silvercreekrv.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1) and also stopped at both of these RV Resorts during our trip which were great as well (although there was not much to do in the areas) http://www.hiddenridgerv.com/index.html and http://www.harbortownrv.com/index.html Spent a few weekends in Pymatuming (between PA and OH) and our last trip was at Evergreen in Amish Country (http://evergreenrv.cc/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1). All good weekend trips but we’re looking to get away for a couple of weeks next summer and to some traveling.
We were thinking of Kentucky or Tennessee (Smoky Mountains) this year but may be just as happy going over the border to Pennsylvania. Just not sure where to look!
Thanks and keep shoveling the white stuff! Mark

Hi Mark, can't help you out much with campgrounds in the US but if you ever decide to cross over into Canada we have a lot of nice spots to camp, a lot of our parks are more expensive than those in the US but with the exchange rate it probably works out pretty close to the same.

Hey Norm, We are thinking about venturing up to Canada next summer if the price of gas does'nt skyrocket again. Will probably cross over at the Soo and head east. Might be giving you a shout for some directions and campsites in your beautiful country...Back in 1992,I spent over a month in Trois-Rivieres, north of Montreal, while waiting to pick up a yacht which we delivered to Florida. During that time,I got to wander around a lot and have always wanted to go back. Wife has never been to Canada so it will be a big treat for her too..

Mark,
Don't tell anyone else about this, but, West Branch State Park down at Ravenna is outstanding! Check it out this spring, we may see you there!

John:
I've heard that West Branch is very nice. We tried last summer to get in but couldn't...thanks for reminding me, I'll make my reservations now. Is there any particular area of the campground you like best?
After some further investigation, I did fing that Good Sam offers travel journals which are very helpful. Also, RV Net seems to have alot of chatter about different destinations. Thanks! Mark

Bill Trois Rivieres is a nice area, if you head further east toward Quebec City there is a great spot to camp on a small island called Isle De Orleans just north of Quebec City, the campground itself isn't the attraction but it is right on the St.Lawrence and you can see Quebec City all lit up at night, and it's a great spot to spend a couple of days to tour Quebec City.

Hi Craig, I have been thinking about trying to get a few of the members in the southern Ontario area together this summer up at Campers Cove where we have our trailer on a seasonal site.

Hi Norm. That sounds like a good idea. But we have a new baby boy coming in June so I cant commit to anything yet for this summer . I'll have to wait and see how my wife feels after. 2010 count me in hahaha . Maybe with a new TT.
