Hi all.. Can anyone suggest any Orlando area campgrounds? I just spoke to Disney and they are already booked for Thanksgiving week with only pop-up sites left. I checked KOA in Kisimmee and they want $200 more for the week than Disney did. I guess once Disney fills up you can jack your prices.

Ken,

We have this one booked for a few days at March break and they are fairly resonable compared to Disney or the KOA and seems nice from the web site. http://www.oro-orlando.com/

We also looked at these couple. They were also not too bad for price and facilities. http://www.merryd.com/ http://www.ponderosarvpark.com/index.htm

We haven't been at any of them yet but we did go to a state park that was only about 30 minutes from Disney that was nice. It was called Lake Louise State park and when we went it was about $20 a night.

Hope that helps I know it can be painfull finding something in Orlando.

Thanks Rob!! It would not be painful if Disney's website was not so stupid.. I checked a while ago and there was an issue with dates and rates for 2009. Now you can only book up until Dec 31, 2009, but the live operator on the phone said they are accepting reservations up to 500 days out. That would be May 21, 2010. It would only be good business to have the people reserving a campsite online, having the same dates available as the people that call. They did offer me spring break week 2010. I guess I will spend my money elsewhere. KOA wanted $565 for a week without a KOA card. Seems a bit steep considering that cable and wifi are available for an additional fee.
