If you are planning a trip that goes through Moline Illinois (or Quad Cities) Sunset Lakes is the place we love. Prices are good, owners are fabulous. 5 lakes, access to the Rock River from campground area, paddleboats and canoes in largest lake, playground, swimming pool, huge clubhouse with breakfast area, tennis, bocce ball, horseshoes, miniature golf (all activities in one central area), kids activities on weekends, oh yea - and it's beautiful. Tons of tree shaded lots to park on - most are concrete with grassy yards. Picnic tables at most sites, you can have a fire, and lots of lakeside lots. There are many pull throughs too, and they host a good and reasonably priced supper on Wednesday and Saturday nights (usually $6 per person and more than hubby can eat)! It's near Joslin, IL outside of Moline. Area activities include the Mississippi River, John Deere Headquarters and factories, Civil War cemetary at Rock Island Arsenal (Army Post open to public), several Gambling Riverboats, Art Museums, shopping, movie theaters, comedy clubs, etc. Walmart is about a 15 minute drive - they stock RV stuff. There's also a RV dealership on the way to Walmart with a decent store for on the road "fix its." WIRELESS COMPUTER ACCESS (big for me). If you are going east or west on I-80 between Chicago and Des Moines, stop here to camp! It is about 3.5 hours to Des Moines and 3+ hours to Chicago - day trips!!
Rather than post my pictures check out thier site: www.sunsetlakesresort.com . This is also a great place for a Rally!!! (Hint hint Central area groups).

We camped at Sunset Lake Resort twice last year and loved it. It's pretty much as your described and would be a great place for a rally. Both times we camped in the 'C' section as they were all pull thru, full hookup (which is our preference). This section of 14 sites has an open field behind it and a park like setting in front of the sites, with the lake across from that. There is also a large shelter/pavalion in the park setting. It also seems to be more spacious due to the layout of that section:

Here are some pics taken when we stayed there in the past:

We would be interested in a gathering there if the dates worked out and would be willing to help as needed.
