Wizard, don't even say the W.... word yet! Lot's of good camping left this year.
Here is my solution to getting pink stuff into the black tank flush line.

Can't help you with the water filter question. I removed the entire filter and sold it at a garage sale, too much pressure loss through the filter.

I'm new to this RVing world and had an experienced friend come over and show me how to winterize my unit last October. I expect that we've camped our last weekend this year already, September is OK but too busy this Sept to get away.

I found this on line tutorial to be helpful. There are some others like this one from an RV dealer, nice customer service touch. http://www.youtube.com/user/PontiacRV
As far as I know we made no special effort with the black water flush line, the tanks were all drained, some antifreeze poured down the toilet and sink drains to prevent the water left on the bottom of the tank from causing troubles.
I would not expect that there would be much water left in that line.
We did blow out the water using a compressor. (No fancy plug was used as in the first tutorial, we just put the air line in the hot water drain openning and held our hand in place, you could feel the air blowing water out the taps all around. Don't forget to drain the water in you outside shower.
Alas the camping months have pasted, time to look forward to dewinterizing next May again.

There is no special procedure for the water filter except to remove the filter itself and replace the housing. The drawback is that the empty housing will fill with antifreeze. You can place a plastic bottle filled with sand (tightly sealed of course) to take up space in the filter housing. Then run your antifreeze through the lines, checking each to be sure antifreeze has flowed through. Pour a little in each sink trap and the toilet and you are done. I don't do anything with the holding tanks or fresh water tank except drain them. Any residual water will not cause any damage to these.
Be sure to turn your water heater bypass on so you don't fill up the water heater tank. Just drain the water heater after bypassing it.
