We finally made a decision and ordered a new 8318SS today and can't wait till it's ready. Just making sure the maintenance is up on the TV now. Gonna be a long month or so waiting....

We have the Flagstaff 831BHSS which is the equivalent to your Rockwood and have really enjoyed it a lot. Having 2 big slides really opens up the space. Enjoy. Joe

Congrats on your decision - We too have just (spec'd it out yesterday) ordered a new TT - an 8315BSS, with a quoted delivery time of 6-8 weeks. Kind of curious on how good Forest River is at meeting their expected delivery date. Any comments please ?

Ours arrived at the dealer on Monday (2010 8319ss). It came in early, so I can't pick it up this weekend... Gotta wait till next weekend. This one has a new front cap. Anyone have one with the new front cap, looks a little more wind deflective than the previous cap.
Congrat to all of you new RV owners...

| Had noticed some of the 2010's with the new front end. Emailed the company to see if ours would come like that and was told that is the new way they are doing it. So glad cause it looks alot better.... |

Congratulations! Gosh, it is hard to believe that (for us), the camping season is quickly coming to an end. We go out again next week and I can't wait.

Picked up the new 8319ss... Love it. Great floorplan and lots of room, nice features, and no more hand cranking the tounge! Setting it up to go camping next weekend. Quite a move up from the starter trailer we had for the last three years.

I noticed at the TT dealer the other day that some of the new Flagstaffs have black exterior trim around the windows which seems to make more sense to help against sun fading. Has anyone noticed this change on new models (or was this just specific models I was looking at)? Joe

The black trim seems to make the most sense for holding up to sun damage. Maybe this is the the norm for all the new units? I wasn't offered that option on my '08 Flagstaff (maybe the dealer didn't think to offer it). Joe

It is winter Well at least here.
Trailer is all nicely tucked away for the next seven months of winter. This far north one really appreciates the weeks of summer.

Congratulations! Enjoy the new TT when you get it.
We do not get our Rockwood TT until next spring. We are counting the days !
We will be towing the 29’ TT with a F150 supercrew 5.4L V8 and we are currently looking at getting a weight distribution and sway control system. Which did you go with? We are trying to decide between dual cam vs friction control?
Anyone has thoughts on this subject?

Chisoxguy13, I suggest getting a Scanguage II monitor. It plugs in to your ODBII port to report what your computers thinks the engine is doing. The main reason for me is I can monitor the tranny temp. After a few weekends, I could see that I was going to need a second external tran cooler. I can also monitor my throttle position sensor. This helps to keep from pressing the throttle hard than needed thus saving gas.

Already installed on the dash. On the highway I rarely have gotten over 165 on the tranny with the temp outside between 70-80 deg. Will see how it is with the trailer attached soon. Actually have scangauge sending me a new cable for my Suburban because it resets the clock and has a poping noise in the speakers when the truck is off. They said it was a common problem with GM's and have a new cable that will fix it. Was tired of always having to reset my clock. |

Just returned from the first camping trip with the new Rockwood 8319ss. Went to the mountains of Virginia. The Expedition did a great job of pulling even crossing the Mountain across Skyline Drive. Two issues: First, noticed that the comode has a leak around the base where is sits on the floor, so that probably means that internally it is leaking much more. Second, the trailer loves the hitch ball so much, that is does not want to release!!! What size ball do these trailers use... Seems that the ball I used on the last trailer might be too large.
Othen than the two issues listed, this is a fantastic trailer, very comfortable and nice to have the power accessories! Great layout for our needs and good to be able to catch the ballgame with the large screen TV to boot! |

The ball size is 2-5/16". Did you lube the ball before hitching? That can cause release problems. If the truck & trailer aren't level that can cause problems too.

Arn I had a problem when hitching up and dropping off the ball. At first I thought the ball was to big but after a good look found that the catch was not retracting all the way back and I needed to grind it a little. After that it worked great. Here is a photo. Dave

Arn,
I had the same problem and did the same thing that Dave did. Need to grind a bit more off of mine as it still sticks in the winter when it is cold out.

| Thanks for the responses. That is the ball size that I am using, so check that off the list of causes. I did not lube the ball, I never have done that in the past with my other trailer, so I will try that. Now the the grinding... Where are we talking about grinding? I dropped it down so that all of the weight of the trailer was on the hitch and held the catch all the way back while raising the trailer. I ran out of lift and raised the back of the TV. (very strong jack). I did this several times, and finally the hitch released. You would think that this would never be a problem! |
