Hi,I have a question on weights,
My buddy has 06-F150 SC/4x4 w/5.4L V-8 ,w/the tow package and a 3.73 rear. 7000lb gvwr 15000 gcwr, his info
Fords conventional towing guide 9300 lbs TT.15,000 gcwr / 144.5 wb
he weighed his truck w/ him in it, 5860 lbs

So that means he has 1140 lbs of play for hitch weight and what ever else he carries in his truck right ??
Also it gives him up to a 8000 lb trailer to meet his gcwr right.
but 7000+9300=16,300 don't get it unless 7000 gvwr is wrong ?

what do you guys / gals think

I have the same basic truck with the 144.5" wheelbase, but the Super Cab and 6.5' bed, but I think the stats should be the same.

My truck had a no-cost up grade to a 7200 lb GVWR. I think that was pretty standard, so recheck your the door label.

If you have the bed loaded up with stuff bringing the GVWR to the max. (7200 lbs.) , then you can only pull a 7800 lb. trailer and still stay within stats.

To pull a 9300 lb trailer, you would need to keep the weight to the truck to 5700 lbs....pretty much impossible since the truck and driver are already at 5900 lbs. With a Trac Rac system and a few items in the bed and me in the driver's seat, I am at 6000 lbs.

You could probably pull that 9300 lb. trailer if there was no load, including a driver. I wonder if that is the way these truck manufacturers get away with these high tow figures.

He could probably go with a higher GVWR trailer, but just keep his load light. Of course, lighter is better if you can find it. My SV263's GVWR is 7559 lbs, but I travel with it around 5500 lbs. The motor/tranny/final drive ratio seems to work great with that load. My problem is that I am appoaching the GVWR of my truck, but still way below the GCWR. By the time I add the tongue weight (minus putting some weight back on the trailer tires with a WDH), a canoe, bicycles, a genny, firewood, and other stuff to the bed, along with the missus and a big dog, I am probably within 100 to 200 lbs of my GVWR.
