Does anyone have any information as to the effectiveness of this wind deflector? I have read the claims on the web site and they indicate an average 1 to 2 MPG additional fuel economy and as much as 3 to 4 MPG savings. We have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ with a 5.3 L Flex Fuel V8 which also has the fuel management system. We used to tow a 1994 Sunline T-2370 Travel trailer with it, but we recently sold it. We are going to pick up our new Rockwood Ultra Lite Model 2604SS on the 13th in Ohio. The new trailer stands much higher and has a greater frontal area. I like the concept of directing the airflow over the top of the trailer instead of it hitting the front face of the trailer, that is if it works! We live in East Central Florida and are looking forward to the drive. Especially this time of the year we hope to see some nice colorful foilage! And the change in temperature will sure be a break for us. I posted a similar question on the Forest River Forum and the first response I got was that they make a nice bug catcher and to save my money for gas!! What do you all have to say?

According to the many readings I've done on the wind deflector subject, vast majority of the serious study reports mention that you need a device that covers entirely the front of the RV to be efficient (like the one's on van tractors).
Also, no reports can demonstrate by way of proof any fuel economy the small units pretend to.
They are just considered at their best as insect deflectors to protect the RV front (... if they are correctly oriented !).

As mentioned in my previous message, the third affirmation ("reduce debris and bugs on your trailer") in these miracle devices' publicity is the only one really proven (technically and scientifically).
I prefer to spend my money on more useful RV accessories.
