Hi, fellow campers! In my 2007 Rockwood 8317ss, my wife and I have had some pretty poor experiences with the audio/video system made by Concertone. Everthing from speakers blowing on their own to total replacement of the system.
Now, 1 year later, another proplem has arisen - the subwoofer under the TV now continually goes on and off systematically and is driving me nuts!!! I took it out and used the speaker in an independent stereo and the speaker had no problems so I know it's something wrong with the system.
My question is, does anyone else have this Concertone system installed in their trailer and experienced the same issues. I personally feel this system is a total piece of crap and I would like to replace it with a better quality one. If anyone else has replaced theirs and what did you replace it with? Thanks and Happy Camping!!

I had issues with my concertone where the power and speakers were cutting in and out. I removed it from the cabinet and found the wires spliced very loosely. I ended up pulling the fuse, re-stripping the wires, resecuring the wire nuts and adding electrical tape to make sure the do not come loose again. These trailers take a ton of shaking down the road and I guess they rattle loose. That seems to have addressed the intermittent speaker issue.

Similar issue with the power. It would cut out then later when i tried it again it would work. I found the plastic connector that plugs the stereo in to the wires behind the cabinet was poor. I cut the wires on each side of the connector and spliced / wire nutted the power together (red and black wires i think).

The radio/dvd unit is removed from the front. Take a flat head screw driver and gently pry the trim ring off. The trim ring is a roughly 1 inch square ring which outlines the unit. Once it is off there are four screws to remove the stereo. Be sure you have something to set the stereo on when you take it out - like a stool with a milk crate on it. The wires will only let it lower a few feet.

Let me know if you need more info.

BTW - This is my second Concertone unit. The first was replaced when I took it to the dealer with powering on issues. A week into the second unit I experienced the same problem. That is when I took it apart and found what I described above.
