I would like to hang a alum. truck box on the back 4"x4" bumper of the trailer, the box is 49"x20"x20" would hold 150 lbs. max., brackets would be welded on to the bumper in (3) location with support plates inside the box and bolted on with stainless bolts. would this be a problem for the trailers back end. Any comments on this would be appreciated.

Doug,

I believe the manufacturer would say NO to carrying anything more than the spare tire on the rear bumper, but if the Bumper-to-Frame connection would be reinforced, I don't see why it shouldn't handle 150 lbs.

Take a good look in the area where the bumper is welded to the frame(underneath). If it's anything like mine, there's not much weld in place.

My TT has a spare tire and Tote carrier attached to the rear bumper, which I think is right at 100 lbs. total. If I were adding any more weight to it, I'd definitely beef up the bumper support.

We have a 2005 Flagstaff 8528GTSS. DO NOT mount anything to the rear bumper!! I even took the spare tire off after talking to Forest River. They warned me against even putting a bike rack back there AFTER I mounted one of the small Honda 3000eui generators back there. The back bumper almost fell off on my return trip from Florida to NC. And now, 3 years later, my floor across the back from the door across to the other side appears to be separating. I have been told it is because I damaged it with the generator on the back bumper.
