I am thinking of mounting a flag pole on the outside of my travel trailer. This flag requires a plastic bracket to be mounted on the trailer. I was thinking of mounting it on the nose, but the nose covering "floats" on the front structure of the trailer. Does anyone know where the best place to mount a bracket is, how long the screws should be, and where I can find some structure to mount the bracket into? Any advice would be great.

How big is the flag pole ? I would be very careful about mounting a flag pole of any size directly onto the trailer itself. If I remember correctly Mike (milzat) had designed a flag pole that was held in place by the jack stand.

I've got a flgstand that can go under either a jackstand or under the tongue-jack. It folds-up to about 6" x 3" x 24". I also picked one up that is bolted to the ladder, which is nothing more than a sleeve that a flagpole will slide into. Got the folding one at Camping World, and picked up the ladder mount at the Dover NA$CAR race.

The flag pole that I am referring is fairly small. It is of the type that you might mount to the side of your home that most people would bring out on flag day. The flag pole itself is about as long as a regular size umbrella (non-compacting). I am not talking about a large pole like the ones I have seen that go under the wheels or the tongue jack.

I made a flagpole bracket out of PVC pipe, and use hose clamps to mount it to my tongue jack. I glued a tee section to the pipe, with a hole in the bottom to fit over 1 of the tongue jack bolts. I also "notched" the tee fitting and the coupling on top so that it fits tight on the tongue jack. I remounted the flag on a piece of metal conduit that was the size to fit in the PVC, and also need to add another section of conduit when I set up the camper, to get it above the roof. Works great so far.
