Well, we just got back from our first trip out in out new Rockwood 1910 and had a great time. There were some glitches, though and I'd like to know if anyone else has had similar issues.

1. No battery.

We found out the hard way that our trailer has no battery. The power went out at 4:30AM in the campground (someone else's trailer kept blowing the breakers) and our heater went off. When we toured the trailer after buying it, the salesman showed us how to switch the fridge to 12V and never said anything about the battery. I just assumed it was hidden inside the trailer somewhere. Either way, we froze for a few hours (it was about 5C that night) and I found the hookup for the battery next to the propane tank, with no battery.

I've called the RV dealer to see if it is supposed to have one, and I'm still waiting for a reply.

2. The clips on the roof that hold the door in place were off by about 5" on each side.

I initially thought the trailer was not level and that caused the door to be difficult to use. One of the people traveling with us and I leveled the trailer completely and checked the door after unhooking it from the top. It was level too. We just unscrewed the clips and moved them over. Now it's perfect.

3. The screen door would only open about 6".

For some reason, there was a screw in the door itself stopping the window from sliding down. I assume it was for shipping reasons or something. Either way, I took it out and problem solved.

Overall, it was a great trip and we hope to get a couple more in before the campgrounds all close.

After talking with the RV dealer, they informed me that because the trailer does not have electric brakes, they are not required to include a battery.

After I mentioned that the battery box was standard equipment, they agreed to install the box free of charge. It took a bit of convincing, however. The problem is that I now have to drive about 60 miles to the dealer to get it installed.

I have found that Costco's Kirkland batteries are much cheaper than what the dealer is offering. Has anyone used their Deep cycle batteries before?

I'm not so sure about Costco's Kirkland batteries but we sell lots of batteries at our shop and have really noticed a higher failure rate and return of batteries that are made in China, Try to find out where they are manufactured and if China avoid them if you can. Also make sure they are a true Deep cycle and not a Deep/Starting type hybrid.

Nope, mine is a 10' box with 2' trunk, so it's considered a 10 foot class. There are definitely no brakes, as I was underneath checking it out shortly after buying it. My van's brakes seem to be able to handle it no problem, although I may consider installing some in a couple of years.

I was able to get the battery box installed by the dealer this past Saturday. He said he was surprised it wasn't there. It was supposed to be stored under one of the seats. Either way, it's there now and I bought a battery from WalMart. It's not a huge one, but it's something. Now I imagine the power won't ever go out at any campground I'm at from now on and I'll never use it. :)
