I have a 2008 Rockwood 8582SS 5th wheel. I need to upgrade from my 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton GMC or Dodge. The question is does anyone pull a Rockwood 5th with a 2008-2009 Dodge 2500. If so, How much does the truck sit down and how much clearance is there between the truck and the 5th overhang? I measure the new 2500's at 25(by the cab)and 27"(at the tail gate) to the top of the truck bed and my 5th is about 59 1.2- 60" at the over hang.

Thanks,
Roger

Well, We went to a Dodge Dealer and had them have 5 large male sales people stand in the back of the Dodge 2500. It was 800+ pounds. The truck set down 2" to the desired 55". So we are going to buy one, hope the 5th sets ths truck bed down this amount or more!

I have a Surveyor and a 2500 Dodge 4X4, granted mine probably has a lighter pin weight than yours, around 1500# loaded, and mine squats none or if it does it's not enough to notice.

Thanks for the input. I seem to be ok because my 2009 Dodge 2500HD does not have the overload springs. The back of the rail is at 56" & 200# sets it to 55.5". This is without the hitch. Also, the Roockwood 5th's pin weight is 800-1200#. I have been pulling this 5th with a 2002 tundra w/Supercharger & Roadmaster springs. I had 7-8" clearance then. Rockwood says they have not heard of any problems. I will know in 4-5 months when I try to connect to the 5th. If I get only 55" then I may have to raise the 5th's pin by an 1-2"s.

I have a F-250 my 5er does not even put the truck on the helpers.
I think will be happy with which ever 3/4 ton you get.
