Picked up my new Rockwood Windjammer 3001W and found numerous problems with dealer delivery. Be careful and be aware of how your dealer is making your trailer ready.

After several nights in the trailer I discovered that the smoke/CO detectors were not even armed. The protective strips were still on the batteries inside the units.

After getting the trailer home I discovered a screw in one of the tires. It was the exact same screw that is found all over trailer dealers. A self-tapping sheet metal screw. I'm sure someone dropped it at the dealer and my tire found it. Big hassle to change out the tire on a brand new trailer.

There was not sufficient clearance for the door latches and dead bolts to latch into the trailer door frame. So, the dealer just got out his saw and sawed a big hole in the aluminum frame behind each striker plate. Now I have holes where I can see into the aluminum frame members.

There were no slide-out supports provided. I didn't notice this until I had returned home 250 miles away. Upon asking for them I got no response from the dealer.

There are numerous screws in the cabinetry that are stripped out. I tried to change out the latches because the ones that came with the trailer are junk. I discovered that screws holding the door hinges were stripped out.

This trailer suffers from a combination of poor quality from Forest River RV and poor dealer make ready. Just be careful and check every inch of your trailer when you pick it up from the dealer. It is much easier at that time to get them to fix things.

Congratulations!
We are new at owning a TT. We bought a new 2008 Rockwood Windjammer 2808W from a dealership in Ontario. Since we bought late in the season, we decided to have the dealer winterized it and store it for us. They did let us inspect it for several hours and we have generated a list for them to fix. The biggest item being a new kitchen counter top since it was crack due to poor installation. We added this item as part of the purchase agreement of this TT.

We do not actually get delivery of this TT until the spring when the PDI will be done and the warranties start. Thanks for the heads up on your PDI. We will look closer when doing the PDI!!

Let us know what you think of the windjammer’s layout and features!

Hi
We are towing the 29’ TT with a F150 supercrew 5.4L V8 and are currently looking at getting a weight distribution and sway control system. Which did you go with? We are trying to decide between dual cam vs friction control? Any thoughts on the subject?
Any issues installing your system with the V nose?

A&F,
I have the Equal-i-zer brand hitch. It is wonderful to have in one connection. If you do decide to go the friction bar route, you will need a right and left setup. The trailer is to long for just one.

I have 2002 5.4 F-150 and on my 31ft 831RLSS I have a Reece 1000lb bar weight distribution hitch and two friction anti-sway bars. I also changed out my rear shocks to Monroe load leveller coil overs. I towed from Alberta through the Rocky Mountains to Vancouver down to California on the coast road and back up on the I5 and through the Cascades, The system worked great. I can vouch for this system but It would be good to hear from someone who has had both types.
