Okay, I would like to ask for everyone's opinion. I am getting ready for my 2nd outting in my new TT. I added my bike rack to the rear bumper and put the outline of the US map on the back. I filled in Indiana and Michigan because I have camped in those states. My question(s):
What qualifies a state to get filled in?

1. Do you have to just pass through the state?
2. Do you have to actually camp in the state?
3. Does it matter if it was with or without the camper?
4. Do you start all over if you get a new camper?

I am just looking for the unofficial rules and see what other members do. Any examples are welcome!

Thank you!!

Out of 18 views, and not one response? Am I the only one that has this map on their RV? I knew it was kind of nerdy, but thought it might be fun.

Todd,
Sorry I missed you post.
From what I've read in other forums, actually camping in the state would qualify to have the states colored in, because it does pertains to camping. I'd also say with or without the camper.

I doubt there are any hard rules at all with it. As Mike said, it generally means you camped in the particular state to color it in. However, who would know otherwise? I would say it is your call.

I see that people use them on another Forum as well. I won't mention it, but I wonder if we could incorporate something into this forum?

What do you think Mike????

Right or wrong, my theory is if we do something in the state, i.e., tourist attraction, shopping, etc. the state qualifies. Example, on our way to Michigan we we spent the night and had tour, dinner and show at a reindeer farm. I figure that's enough to qualify that I've been to a state!

Hi Danny & Phillis,

I have taken in a number of opinions from many folks, and the rule that my family has adopted is that you have to actually camp there. For us that means setting up camp and spending at least one night (overnight at a Wal-Mart wouldn't count for us). So, I think your theory is absolutely correct.

Bill, yes, I am a quilter. I have claimed the huge drawer under the sofa in our Rockwood as my "sewing room". I have a sewing machine, rotary cutter, mat, etc. and an assortment of thread, needles and pins. I finished a baby quilt while camping this weekend. I sat on the banks of the Arkansas River while I sewed on the binding. Now that was fun!!!

My wife Marie quilts when camping too. She keeps a Singer feather weight machine in the camper and sews outside when ever possible. We will be going to the big quilt convention in Paducah, Kentucky next week and camping nearby. This will be our eighth trip there.

We have been to Paducah once, but not during convention. MIL's sister lives in Owensboro and we take her once a year from Arkansas. This year we hope to camp a week at Land Between the Lakes while she has her visit. Hope you have a great time next week!

It is whatever you want it to be. If the visit was significant and a memory for you and yours. Then count it. I have been to many locations throughout the world and United States. I however say I have been to those locations by qualifying that all I really did was connect to another flight and never left the airport. So did I really visit? Most likely not. Have I been to that location? yes but only the airport etc. It is the context you place it that is important.
